This was the Christmas issue, so advertisers splashed out on bigger-than-normal ads, or switched to colour. Bike City did both with this page which seems to have a touch of the M-Zone about it. The two shops were based relatively close to each other, on the southern fringes of London and must have been rivals to some extent.
I liked adverts like these which featured local skaters. Can anyone now tell us more about Andy, Simon, Brian and Jonah please?

I helped build the ramp in the photos. The main guy responsible was a guy called Nick who had skated originally in the 70′s and ran a timber yard. Me and my mate Ian where about 19 at the time and the skaters featured Andy Etc. would have been about 15-16. Andy was Andy May got a few features in RAD (I think he had a cover doing a boneless off of a telephone box- they are big red things we used to use instead of mobile phones).
Andy and Brian could skate anything – street, vert, parks, pools
Simon was a really good technical vert guy – first person I knew who rode Gullwings everyone else had thunders or indis. Jonah was a bit younger (syill at school). TheBromley Skate Posse as we like to be known used to hook up with the Mud MAchine guys (M-Zone) in Croydon and also skated all over London. Romford, South Bank, Hendon, Kennington, Stockwell and of course who could forget Neasdon pool (until it was filled in).

Ha,
The Bromley Skate Posse,
We had many a wicked session in Croydon at Fairfield halls & the Norwich Union building with those guys.
Ray & i were actually in an M-Zone ad in R.A.D. Mag many moons ago.
I was an M-Zone local who skated with Curtis McCann,Ray Calthorpe,Andy May,Dave Minns,John Laidlow & Dan Modi-what a blast from the past
I am stil in contact with most of those guys & a few still skate..
Especially Andy May who now runs ‘Vert Club’
I remember bumping in to TLB while he was doing a photo session at Nowich Union with the Skyway guys (Damon Nichols etc i think)
Ahhh the good old days……..=)

Does anoyne have photo’s from that Circle A demo at the SC mini-ramp way back when? I think TLB was shooting? Some of us skating a bump to ledge in the little ‘Mall’ and I remember some bmx-ers jumping the Habitat stairs with one of them breaking his forks to faceplant…
